Speed Captures Truck Pole at Bristol

BRISTOL, TN (August 20, 2008) - Scott Speed won the first pole of his NASCAR career Wednesday, qualifying fastest for tonight's O'Reilly 200 Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Speed's best previous start in eight truck races was fourth at Dover earlier this year in a race he won.

Speed's lap of 123.865 mph in Bill Davis Racing's No. 22 Toyota was 0.016 seconds faster than teammate Johnny Benson. Going for his fourth consecutive truck series victory, Benson's lap was 123.738 mph.

Kyle Busch (Billy Ballew Motorsports) was third-fastest at 123.483 mph, with Todd Bodine (Germain Racing) fourth and Justin Marks (Germain) fifth. Marks crashed on his second lap and will start from the rear of the field in tonight's race in a backup truck.
